Can I make a suggestion... either put your location in your "profile" or let us know where the bloody *ell your writing from are in your message!

Just to make sure we differentiate.....  A car may or may not have computer adjusted timing, to maximize performance to the octane rating.  Now I seriously doubt my SB has a computer chip in it ... correct me if I'm wrong... so using the recommended octane is highly recommended.......
Re: The "Friction Wheel" versus The Hydrostatic Transmission drive debate

I have no doubt that a hydrostatic drive is superior to a friction drive, but if your at all mechanically inclined and keep your blower in good repair, you can replace quite a few friction disks for the cost of a hydrostatic drive, and if the hydrostatic ever needs repair, pull out your wallet.

Re: Shear Pin "review" ???

If he goes through 2 shear pins a day, I certainly don't want to buy that blower used!   What exactly is he blowing??

Interesting point, in my Arien's manual it say to use ONLY Ariens shear pins or the warrenty  is invalid.... what a load....  their shear pins cost 3 times what I can get them on the web.... so I'm keeping a set of official shear pins from Ariens and if something goes south, I'll make sure I put the ariens pins back in before going to the dealer.
