Novice question

I am not experienced with snow throwers...I recently purchased my first one...used Ariens ST1032...I have seen some topics on shear pins...and how they break from time to time..and how it is good to have

extras on hand...could someone help me out in telling me (or showing me in pcis) what a shear pin does exactly...and where it is / what it looks like on this model? How will I know when one has broken?

Thanks.

Thanks for your help..maybe someone else who is familiar will come across this...

That "sticker" is actually a plastic piece that I have taken off...from what I see it doesn't hold anything but just fits into a hole.

I attempted to tighten the spring tension by disconnecting the cord and winding the wheel counterclockwise as shown in the video....but as I am winding it and before I can get it to the point where it has enough tension to recoil the cord completely...it gets to a point where I can hear the spring release and unwind inside. I don't easily see how to get it apart if I need to get to the srping.

Need Help with Ariens ST1032

My knowledge is limited...I just picked up one of these used...it runs great...but the problem is with the cord recoil...the cord does not recoil all the way back into the asembly.

Is this an easy fix?  I saw on this model the whole recoil assembly comes off easily...can that assembly just be replaced?  If so - where is a good place for a part like that?

Or is there a way to replace a piece of it - like the coil spring inside?  Like i said - not a lot of experience with these...so your help will be great;y appreciated.

Thanks.
