Width of computer image keeps changing
Original Message   Feb 23, 2005 7:51 pm
Why does my screen keep changing widths so I can't read all the text? Anybody else have this problem?

By any chance, are you viewing a thread with pictures in it?  I'm sure someone will blame the browser being used, or it's settings. I've experienced this in IE, and threads with pics give me more trouble than those without.  I find the pics in the sigs particularly irritating. No point in losin' sleep over it, don't think it will change IMHO.

Was it on the thread you started that posted the briggs images on? If so, that was because I didn't shrink the images down to proper size.

Windows?
just a question.

Is it with one particular thread that has a large picture?

if not, go to the desktop, right click,  properties, settings,  What is your screen area?

I've found it with any post that has a particularly large picture in it most of the time.  Other times it's just scroll back and forth until the posts are read - or just give up.

None of you is touching base with the main thing here. What is your desktop resolution set? Right click on your desktop, then click on properties. Click on the Settings tab and look for Screen Area. What does it say there? Possible resolutions are bellow.

800*600
1024*768
1088*612
1152*864

Your desktop resolution needs to be set at least to 1024*768 to view any website properly! 800*600 is a thing of the past just like 640*480 is.

My whole computer is a thing of the past!  I've tried different settings and whatever one I've got it on seems to freeze it the least.

That's horse poop, repectively.

I have mine set on 800X600 and it's perfect. 1024X768 makes everything way too small.

That explains why everything is so small.

I'm running 1600x1200!

i typically run my 17" at home at 1152x864x85Hz, but when i want to take my glasses off, i drop down to 800x600x100Hz.  It's also nice too because you can set the refresh waaaay up there so games are snappier too, and your eyes get the illusion that the image is sharper.  My screen at work is a 21"(19 viewable) that I run at 1280x1024x75Hz.  It's certainly technically feaseable to run 800x600, but some websites(not abbys) can be a bit cramped.
