The price is whatever you are willing to sell and a buyer is willing to pay for it.  If you price it right then it gets sold.  It is not a science but rather an art.  For example, people asking $200 for HS35 are not going to get much action but if you sell it around 50-100, you have much better chance.  The real question is, do you want your 826OXE gone or just want to test the water.

I saw some people asking $400 for an H35.I wonder if they could sell it for that price. :D

I have been looking on CL (out of state) and stumbled upon this machine but he wants 2200.00..... One of my boss' is interested.

Then today I found a 928 tracked Honda five years old as well and he is asking 1950 but is interested in a trade and cash for my Toro. When I asked why he is selling it guy said he is too tall and that the Honda is uncomfortable??? Not sure of the Honda's height .......or even the truth. What is a fair cash offer including my 826OXE??

I'm 5'9" and find my HS928TA to be fairly comfortable for me (could be a bit higher though) but I could understand where a taller operator would find the standard handle height uncomfortable.Honda sells a handle extension kit that increases the handle height a bit for taller operators. I'd offer the 826OXE (at a presumed value of $ 800.00) and another $ 800.00 cash. IMO, used OPE should sell for 1/2 to 1/3 (or somewhere in between) the value of current or comparable OPE. Knowing the previous owner and their maintenance habits/OPE type of useage is bonus points and could add/subtract $$$ to the buying price. Having this knowledge definitely increases/decreases the value accordingly.

I see a local HS724 (track) being listed for $1500.00 CDN.  It looks almost mint.  No mention of what year it is.  I know that if it was bought locally, the owner paid well over 3K for it and likely closer to 3.5K all in.

Despite the knowledge that it's a top notch machine, not sure I'd pay that much for a used one.  However, new one are still ridiculously expensive.  I compared new Hondas to the new Yamahas and I'd give the nod to Yamaha.  They have some real nice touches on their machines.  I particularly like Yamaha's shock drive protection for the auger as well as plastic lined impeller housing and chute.  Prices are just as nuts as Honda but Yamaha seems to give you more for the money.

Tell me about it, CEO, executive VP, VP manufacturing, VP production to name a few......

He mentioned a grand plus my machine, there is no way imo that its fair. He purchased it last year so at  the least he is the secnond owner. The main issue is he is 150 miles away which adds another 150 (gas and tolls) nevermind probably 3 hours each way so I think this is a no go. If I knew more about the machine I would be all over it, dont think I will get another chance to trade a blower and cash for a Honda JMHO.

Nevermind not sure how I am going to like the tracks having such a small property.....

tracks aside - have you looked at the 27" Husky with tracks...
I've looked at not as it seems like a good compromise in space, Power + Hydro tranny.
I've yet to see the machine so can't speak for other tidbits like chute operation, etc.

Make him an offer of $500 cash and your machine and if he turns you down, tell him to call you if he changes his mind.

You aren't buying the Mona Lisa.

Also remember I had a 928 with tracks and it is not all that fun to manuever and you will get a good workout using it.

Your Toro is so much easier to turn and steer. Just make sure that if you do buy that Honda that you won't have buyers remorse or want something else. Just be happy with your purchase. The guy selling the Honda obviously wasn't happy with his purchase.

I have a 1132TAS also.  Tracks are something you have to adapt to like it.  It won't win you over right away.  There's the bucket pedal to work with, shifting weights to the front of the tracks to make the turning easier, manual chute crank that works in reverse.  Plus, as Steve_Cebu said, it will be a workout.  Besides these idiosyncracies, it is a terrific snow tosser, eats EOD without riding up, and it has the best sounding engine.

The 1132TAS has a lot more oomph than your current 826.  But keep in mind that the 1132 is a  heavy brute and is not as friendly to operate a 826.  It will either humble you or frustrate you.  Its 260 lbs of pure muscle, lower center of gravity, 10x traction.  Make sure you get a good single stage snowblower to use when light snowfall is too much to bring out the big 1132.

Another thing to mention is while the Honda is tough and well built snowblower, if abused and not taken care of, it will be costly to own.

Does the engine spew blue smoke when it starts up from worn piston rings, valves or possibly not be stored properly with oil in the cylinder, as required.  6 years old, was it owned by a homeowner or the municipal government, or an institution with miles of walkways and parking areas ?  How much was it actually used ?  Is it rusted ?  Does it look good, or kinda beat ?  Used equipment means the price is for what potential remains in the machine, YOU have to determine that, and then decide what is a sound offer. When new that was the best of snowblowers, after it is new, is another list of possibilities.
