Anyone use a single stage (electric maybe?) to get the snow off a roof? I had about 2.5 feet of dense, heavy snow on the roof, and shoveling it seems like a lot of work. Other than writing a check to have someone else do it, I was wondering if a SS would do it easy enough? Never used one, never shopped for one, nada. Can they be useful for this? I'm a fat lazy bastard, and if a tool for the job is available, I am all for it! There already is thread on this. Lots of choices depending on the pitch of the roof some are safer than others.

Is your roof flat or pitched? If it is pitched it is safer to use a to use a Avalanche system . I use it and it is great. No need to get on your roof (much safer). Go to u- tube and check out (Avalanch snow removal tool). They go for around $125.00 Wow what small roofs those people have! That thing wouldn't even reach my roof on the front of the house. I have icicles as long as that thing is.
My neighbors house is easily twice as high as that Avalance tool. It might be good for a garage tho. I need a ladder to get from the top of my garage to the roof of the house. Also I wonder how well it will work with crunchy snow that is at least twice as thick as the snow in those videos?

THE TOOL IS ADJUSTABLE . YOU KEEP ADDING POOLS TO REACH . GRANT THE PERSON ON U TUBE HAS A SMALL HOUSE. THEY DID NOT NEED TO REACH FAR. iF THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO WOR OUT FOR YOU THERE ARE OTHER METHODS TOO. I REALY THINK GOING ON A PITCHED ROOF WITH A SNOW BLOWER IS DANGEROUY US.I SAW A GUY GET HIS SNOW OFF WITH A TORO SNOW SHOVEL ONCE. HE WAS ON A LADDER I can't see using a 40 foot tool like that without it breaking. New England houses often have high roofs with a moderate to steep pitch. No way to use a snowblower on many roofs unless you are a pro. The small electric/gas shovels might work for some people. But that is very dangerous. I'm still waiting for teh guy to come and shovel off the roof. So far he's not shown up twice!
