axle spur gear position! (rivet heads left or right looking from the operator position?) Original Message Mar 27, 2010 5:40 pm
have a model 924050 serial# 066624 and the bearings are bad on the drive axle. i have the axles out and in the process had the spur gear thats splined on both sides fall out that both axles spline into.i now dont know which way the gear faces .there are wear marks with a slight bevel on one end of all the gear teeth and don't know whether the wear was on the inside or outside of the gear to assemble it .this must be a differential drive gear or something and if i knew which way the round heads of the rivets faced(left or right) it would be helpfull. don't know if it makes a difference or if it only works if installed the corect way. the rivet heads that hold the gear assembly together are on the opposite end of the wear on the teeth.
