The original part number 3003 is still searchable. Many parts companies databases list the old numbers like 2x39 and 2x35 along with the newer and or replacement numbers.
>>They are suspect at best
They may be suspect until you have seen and used them. The friction disks from Tulsaenginewarehouse and Milford Power are fine. Tough to tell but they should easily be able to go 10 years and probably many more. That’s fine for a 924050.
How good was the quality of the original friction disk on a 932105 that had gouge like chunks around the whole friction disk. One section was worn down to bare metal. Given the guys driveway is 10 miles from Boston, two cars wide and two long with a slope his machine should have gone 20 years without a repair.
Some aftermarket parts are ok. The Oregon replacement skids are great, thick metal, heavy, and much cheaper than Ariens parts. I think they came out with the double side skid before Ariens did.
