Can you have identical engines and one can have more hp due to adjustments to the engine?I'm not an engine expert but thats what I read.Borat can it be possible thats what B&S did with your engine?If not u r lucky to have more hp for less money.That's a nice ratio ,11 1/2 hp to 28" width on a blower.Maybe thats why I can fill my bucket with heavy wet snow and it never bogs down.

Certainly. If an engine is improperly adjusted or suffering from some other form of mechanical disadvantage, i.e. worn rings, burned valves, bad bearings, all of those things can contribute to power loss. Not having the carb or timing set right can seriously hamper power output. We've had two major snow falls here this year and each one was more slush than snow. The Simplicity was making gurgling noises as it pumped it through. Never clogged once.

I was referring more to when the engines leave the mfg. plant.Mine is 11.5 and yours is 9.5.Even though u said they r identical,can it be they just make an adjustment to yours and set it to 9.5hp.Or maybe its like you said.They r both 11.5 and just slap a 9.5hp sticker on yours...

Engines of same displacement and rated at different hp , such as Kohler 13,15, 18 hp ohv single cyc vary hp by changing camshaft.Compression / torque & hp can all be changed by different camshaft grinds. But the quickest and easy way is to make them all the same and change the lable on cowl.
