Ariens ST1136 versus Craftsman 18hp with 47inch blower

We just moved out to the country and have a long (200 yards) gravel drive way. We own a John Deere LX255 with a blade and a Ariens ST1136. We have used the blade to clear the drive and then once in a while used the Ariens to make the drive wider to have a place to put new snow with the blade. At time the wind causes large drifts and we have to use the Ariens to make a path. There is an older ('94) Craftsman 18hp tractor with a 47 inch blower attachment for sale locally for $550. We are wondering if a single stage tractor mounted blower will be able to THROW the snow far enough. We have no experience with a tractor mounted blower, but love our Ariens for it power. It would just be nice to drive instead of walk.

It really depends on how well the blower was designed.  I will tell you that a well designed single stage blower on a tractor can blow very well.
