I have found a Ariens 1336 PROFESSIONAL(2000)  that is a low hour unit and looks very clean. it has anew battery and new shoot control motor.Owner wants about $1000 for it I have read some threads that some of these 1336 had engine problems.Are these older PRO's worth that money ? The way I see it John Deere or Simplicity can be had for about $400 more...But if these are good blowers I could save that much too. Advise please. Thanks.

That particular machine looks very impressive but in real life applications, it's less than stellar.  There's been a couple of threads concerning the Ariens 1336 that have been less than complimentary.  I looked at one and opted for a new Simplicity 9528 instead.   I've never looked back.  I'd avoid the 1336. 

I've heard of not so good reviews about this model as well. Poor handling and low power to width ratio. It is the biggest and baddest though.
