Hello, I am new to this forum . Please help me in making a choice between a ARIENS st27le and a simplicity L1226e I am leaning towards the Simplicity I have and old Husqvarna ST-522h which is not self propelled so any thing will be a improvment! Question? how many hp is simplicity l1226e? i seem to find diffrent info on diffrent web sites I live in rhode island i am not in the snow belt but 8/10 inches is not unheard of but 4 inches is more likely Thanks Gary

The Simplicity is approx 10.5hp and has a cast iron gear box. The Ariens has a larger impeller 14" vs 12" for the Simplicity. The biggest difference in my opinion is that the Ariens has a remote wheel lock/unlock trigger mounted under the left hand grip. The Simplicity has an wheel lock/unlock pin located on the axle. With your lighter 5 hp Husky you didn't really have to worry about locking and unlocking the wheels. Both wheels likely were locked full time but the machine was light enough to allow you to just steer it with a bit of elbow grease. The two machines you're considering are heavier so the remote trigger is worth a hard look.
