Price and Long term review of the Toro 828 LXE?
Original Message   Sep 20, 2008 4:24 pm
Have seen a few reviews of this unit, but most are either after a short amount of use, or are from several years ago. Has anyone been using the 828 for 2+ years and if so, would you care to give me your feedback?

Additionally, the local dealer sells the 828 for around $1650 before a $100 rebate from Toro. Seems a little pricey. There are not a lot of Toro dealers around, but I will look be shopping around. Does the price get any better as we get closer to snow season?

Thanks in advance,
NHAnimator

Can you locate an Ariens dealer?  For the same money. you get a better machine, really, IMHO.  Toro only has three decent two-stage models now, and they are all 28" models.  Ariens has several sizes available with a great variety of feature choices.  At least check it out.   By the way, I actually think Toro's machines are very good.  I just have a better liking for Ariens, which I have used many times at my job as a school custodian.  Built like tanks.

Toro is a good product but not worth the additional cost.  I don't know how much business Toro will have to lose before they realize that informed consumers won't pay a premium for their name.  Sooner or later, their prices will have to fall in line with other top notch machines such as Simplicity, Honda and Ariens.  Heed the advice of those who suggest you look at another brand.
