New John Deere Snowblowers -- Any Info?
Original Message   Aug 14, 2008 10:44 am
Just noticed that John Deere is putting its brand on a line of snowblowers again. 522E (single stage), 726E, 928E, 1130SE, 1332PE.  http://www.deere.com/en_US/ProductCatalog/HO/category/HO_SNOW.html?tm=ho&link=prod_equip_page

These must be a rebrand of an existing machine.  Any info?

Very similar product to the Large non-Pro Simplicity made by Briggs. That is, Murray drive system, Simplicity Auger head and chute, and derivative dash, handlebars, and controls (used by Murray, Simplicity, Snapper, etc).

I took a look at the 928E this weekend. I asked if it was a Simplicity. I was told it was a Briggs and Stratton. If I'm not mistaken, B&S bought Simplicity. I sent an email off to Deere asking who the manufacturers was.  The cost at the dealer was the same as listed on the Deere web site. $1299.00. The Simplicity site has the L1428E listed at $1450.00. I don't know if this is what is really sells for. The closes dealer is an hour away.

The Deere had the 16"x4.8" tires rather than the 15"x5" tire as described on the Simplicity L1428E model. I thought I read that the Simplicity had an electric chute. The Deere chute was not electric.

1) Are there any concerns that this Deere would not live up to the quality of Simplicity?
2) Other than being green, and a few minor changes, is the Deere 928E truly the Simplicity L1428E?

Thanks
Adam

THIS IS AN EXPRESSED OPINION ONLY SPEAKING IN A FORUM IT IS NOT MEANT TO OR TAKE AWAY FROM A PRODUCT.  YOU ARE VERY BRIGHT MY FRIEND FIRST OF ALL LET ME TELL YOU THAT THEY DON'T MAKE SNOW BLOWERS. I KNOW YOU GO TO THE STORE YOU SEE THE BEAUTIFUL GREEN PAINT AND YOUR MESMORIZED THINKING YOUR BUYING A QUALITY PRODUCT. THIS IS NOT TRUE WITH THE SNOW BLOWER LINE. JOHN DEERE THROUGH THE YEARS HAS SUBBED OUT ITS PRODUCTION OS SNOWBLOWERS TO COMPANIES SUCH AS NOMA. JUST GOOGLE NOMA SNOW BLOWERS UP AND CHECK OUT THE SAME MACHINE. THIS WAS NOT ALL YEARS BUT THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, I WILL TELL YOU THIS MUCH IT IS MY OPINION YOU GET THE MOST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK FROM A SIMPLICITY BRAND BLOWER! IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION I WILL TRY TO ANSWER IT HONESTLY FOR YOU. REMEMBER KNOW YOUR SNOW BLOWER BUY AN EXTRA SET OF SHEAR PINS SPARK PLUG AND BELTS PUT THEM AND THE SERVICE TOOLS NEEDED IN A DESIGNATED ZIPPERED BAG AND TAKE THE WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO OUT WITH YOUR BLOWER.   HIGHWAYMAN

Those replies are excellent and correct.   The main reason to buy a John Deere snow blower is because you like the color green.

John Deere snowblowers are built by Briggs and Stratton and   have features from the other B&S built machines: Simplicity, Murray, etc.   Nothing special here other than the

green paint.

the color green?  what about the yellow wheels, and the yellow deere decal.they look pretty also...  the reason i bought my 1130se john deere  'AFTER'  i drove around and looked  at all the rest of the popular brands (honda, ariens, toro, craftsman, snapper,) that were within a reasonabe driving distance . Simplicity in my area did not have a dealership, but i did like what i saw on the internet about them.....comparing apples to apples here , the john deere model 1130 se  was put together for strength and rigidity as well as or better than the others. that was important to me because i snowblow A LOT of places. my briggs and stratton made blower has not once failed of its own fault, nor have i even had to replace shear pins, the 'triggerless' easy steer system is among the simplest to use. yea this is a briggs made blower, but my chevy is not all chevy either. my john deere dealer is totally outstanding with service second to none, which is a huge plus.     the lights, electric chute, easy steer, cast iron gearbox, x-trac tires, 1550 snow series MAX briggs engine, 200 degree chute rotation, heated grips are but a few reasons i chose the john deere.
