have a bon fire  fill your muffler with 50/50 gas and oil  let it have a nice bath for about 2hr drain it then toss it in the fire .. within 10 to 15 min I got a perfect clean out muffler

Evenrude makes a decarbonizer foggind spray for their 2 stroke motors..   seems to work good on some of the really bad stuff (soak and sit then burn) or gun cleaning solvent.   There is always the ice pick in the hole or the drill bit through the unit.   What have you got to loose?

Good luck
