What is the type of equipment. Some of the mufflers are catalytic and have to be replaced. Other wise you have to burn it out with a torch it must be red hot!!

The following is a common method used to burn carbon/coke deposits out of two stroke motorcycle exhausts.  Air pressure will vary with exhaust lengths and sizes.  Bigger exhaust requires more flame and air.  Sometimes we pour an ounce or two of  used engine oil into the exhaust to aid in igniting the carbon.

Secure the muffler with some kind of heavy clamp, get an air compressor and a torch.  Put the torch at highest flame setting and put the flame into the exhaust entrance. Set air compressor around five lbs. and blow the flame through the exhaust.  As previously stated, get the exhaust red hot.

have a bon fire  fill your muffler with 50/50 gas and oil  let it have a nice bath for about 2hr drain it then toss it in the fire .. within 10 to 15 min I got a perfect clean out muffler

Evenrude makes a decarbonizer foggind spray for their 2 stroke motors..   seems to work good on some of the really bad stuff (soak and sit then burn) or gun cleaning solvent.   There is always the ice pick in the hole or the drill bit through the unit.   What have you got to loose?

Good luck
