Toro Powershift 828 : runs and Idles fine until Auger is in Snow Under Load.
Original Message   Dec 6, 2007 11:29 am
Hello,

Snow Thrower Runs fine. I can put it in all 4 Gears No Problem. When I go to use the Auger to remove the snow The Idle drops to at least half of what it was. I jacked up the Ide which helped a little but the Idle still drops Signifigantly. When the  the Auger hits the Snow. If it not in snow the Idle does not Drop.

Thank You, Alan

It could also be a crack in either the fuel line or the line that goes to the primer bulb. Too much air and not enough gas gets in the fuel supply side of the carburettor. Its happening more often due to the alcohol that is being added to gas. It tends to stiffen gaskets and fuel lines.

I'd be suspicious of the fuel supply lines first and then if that checks out the governor.

I'm going with fuel starvation.  Check your spark plug to see what colour it is.  If it's whitish, you're running lean.  An engine will generally run well at high throttle settings if it running rich but will bog down if it can't get enough fuel.  I'd also look in the fuel bowl for contamination.
