Simplicity snowblower
Original Message   Dec 3, 2007 8:56 pm
recently I have changed the worm gear on my  Simplicity Snowblower. I just started to use it last nite and the auger will not spin but the impeller will. I noticed that the houseing for the worm gear is moving upwards. I think that the two gears arent touching one another but I am not sure what to do?

The shear pins are in place. The worm gear was put back on the exact way I took it off... Im wondering if the belt could cause it because its so old and stretched.By not applying a downward pressure on the impeller shaft?

Isn't the impeller driven by the same shaft that drives the auger?  If the impeller is spinning and the auger is not, it sounds like the problem is in the gear housing.  Was there a key way to secure the worm gear to the drive shaft or is is splined?  If it has a key way, did you ensure the key was installed?

It ended up being the bushing at the end of the roller worm shaft was broken..thank god it didnt ruin the worm gear.
