recently I have changed the worm gear on my  Simplicity Snowblower. I just started to use it last nite and the auger will not spin but the impeller will. I noticed that the houseing for the worm gear is moving upwards. I think that the two gears arent touching one another but I am not sure what to do?

It seems like the worm gear was (is) not properly engaged with the pinion (driven gear(s)).   Do the augers have shear pins in place?  When you tried engaging the auger drive did you hear any interesting sounds? 

If you installed the gear the wrong side it could had broken the case...or did you check for broken shear pins? send us a close picture of your broken parts.

The shear pins are in place. The worm gear was put back on the exact way I took it off... Im wondering if the belt could cause it because its so old and stretched.By not applying a downward pressure on the impeller shaft?

It ended up being the bushing at the end of the roller worm shaft was broken..thank god it didnt ruin the worm gear.
