Mistakenly put gas into engine oil tank in a Tecumseh 6hp lawnmower
Original Message   Aug 19, 2007 3:14 pm
So I was being pretty absentminded earlier today while mI was mowing the lawn, the lawnmower stopped, I figured it was the gas so I got some gas and put about 1-2 litres into the engine oil tank by mistake.  I flipped it upside down to try and empty the engine oil tank but nothing came out.  I havent tried starting the mower up again in fear of it blowing up or catching on fire or something equally dangerous.  Any ideas on what I should do?

You will have to remove the drain plug, and flush all the contaminated oil-gas out with fresh engine oil.

Let it sit for a day or two in the warmth so any extra gas eveaporates.

Then fill it up with fresh oil and you should be fine.
