whats the deal with ariens?
Original Message   Jul 5, 2007 10:50 pm
i am new to this forum and from what i have heard its full of arien fans. the problem is i have never heard of them before in my life. they must be a small company or they are olny sold back east because out here in Washington i have never seen one and i have been to all the shops. exactlyb how good are they and how well do they stack up to the magor companies such as Honda and Cub cadet? you would think if they were any good they would have them everywhere

IIRC, Ariens is celebrating  75 years in Buisness. They are known for some of the Most dependable snowblowers in the buisness. They also now manufacture all aspects of OPE. www.ariens.com will give you some info..

I also have a early 70's Ariens, for sale soon, that still beats up on newer, lower quality OPE. I also have a 3 year old Pro series that kicks seriouse snow.

Ariens, I own an old snowblower it's made of strong steel no plastic, it eats the snow like a lizard tongue and throwing it like a lama :)) these machine are the best in the market in my book.

Josh- First of all, why must Ariens be small ? just because you never heard of them doesn't mean they are a small company. It means you have little knowledge in the snowblower market. Ariens has been and still is a major player in the snowblower market long before Honda came on the scene. I don't know  the market in your area ( I assume your in Washington, the state) how big or small it is but maybe Ariens has decided not to go after it (to small) or maybe the dealers decided not to sign up and be an Ariens dealer. Here,in NY Home Depot carries Ariens snowblowers. Do you have a Home Depot near you ? Do they carry it ? If not that tells you something about the market that your in. As for Cub Cadet they are owned by MTD ( a low grade equip manufacterer) and are not made to the standards of Ariens or Honda. As for Honda ,good engines, and owners rave about there performance ,Throwing distance etc, but there construction is tinnier than an Ariens and you pay more for it. - Kris

thanks guys for the imput. i am not concerned about thier snowblowers as where i live i have absolutly no need for a snowblower9 we gert two inches if were lucky). this is the reason i have little knolage of snowblowers. i am more concerned with the lawonmoer portions but this seems to be a sight about snowblowers mostly. seems like a lot of money to put into a machine that you use a couple times a year( i dont even think they sell them here)i do remember seeing a ariens lawnmower in silverdale which is about 30 minuites from my house. i also have discovered they use yahmaha motors which i have no clue as to the condition of. in terms of lawnmowers i have a honda and i love it.
