ok i have a toro powermax 826le snowblower with a 8hp tecumseh engine and i want to get a light for it but it doesn't have a alternator on it . but i looked  up the engine at tecumseh .com and it said u can get a 18 watt a.c. lighting alternator 3 amp d.c/5 amp a.c  optional but i wanted to no if i could get away of hooking a light up with out the alternator and if so what would i have to do and what kind of light should i buy.

          please help me out  .                         thank you for your help .

Adding an alternator is likely not practical. It requires a good deal of dismantling peripheral engine components and requires a new flywheel. Try a rechargable bicycle headlight. It likely will not have a flood lens and will project the light  farther than is useful, but a clever person could rig something up to refract the light a little closer to the machine.
