I have tried a few different methods in seein gif my blade is balanced, and I dont trust them as each time I get a different result. Where would one pick up a balance cone locally?

I've seen it just this week at HD and LOWES. I own one and it realy works.Best of luck

thats odd, I paid a visit to HD tonight and they didn't seem to have anything. I looked in the seasonal area and all they had was the basic blades, spark plugs and regular lawn mower maintenance parts.

I guess Canada gets shafted :D

It comes in two different packaging.Either the cone by itself or the way I bought mine in a combo pack with a sharpening stone that fits a high speed drill.I just don't remember which store has what.

I picked mine up at a commercial mower dealer (or you could try a place that sells home or pro lawn equipment). They frequently sell those accessories or can order it for you. You could also try searching the net for a "mower blade balancer".
I found that hanging it on a nail is not as effective.
For sharpening nothing beats a 4" to 4-1/2", 10,000 rpm right angle hand grinder. Get a coarse or medium metal grinding wheel and use a face shield (or at least safety glasses). It cuts quickly and you can take a lot off without burning the blade.
