my natural gas powered generator does not come up to speed. i put my hand over the air intake to choke the engine and it sped up. when i removed my hand it slowed again. your diagnosis?

Vacuum leak caused by a bad intake or carb gasket - spray carb cleaner around the carb mounting points & see if the engine speed changes - if so, you found the problem area. Could be a blown head gasket too - check for low compression. Cleaning the bowl nut on this one WONT HELP since it IS running on Natural Gas... Marty
