Surging and firing in muffler

Just picked up a Toro 8 HP snowblower. It starts right up but surges and fires an explosion in the muffler. Scares the hell out of me! Why is it doing this and how do I fix it? Also, I would like to clean the carburetor. Do I just spray cleaner in the intake or do I have to take the carburetor apart? Thanks John |

Sounds like your carb does need cleaning. Take it completely apart and soak it overnight in metal parts cleaner. If you can, blow it out with compressed air and install a carb kit. Should solve your problem.
