ARIENS JERKING IN 1ST GEAR
Original Message   Dec 29, 2005 6:20 pm
Model 910995 . Runs fine in all gears including reverse except 1st gear. If i depress the clutch and run it up and down the gears sometimes I can get it to go into 1st. When it does not engague fully it kind of jerks along. The friction disk looks ok and it does run fine in all other gears(no slipping). Is this an adjustment problem? If so how do I adjust?  I use first gear alot , I get some pretty high snow falls.  Thanks RDB

Do you have the manual that came with the machine? I have a different model, but the manual does explain how to adjust the gear shift mechanism; a fairly simple operation.

richb,
The number that you provided is for a 24" Sno-Thro attachment. The attachment was used for several years and found on different model "Tractors".  Try to find the model number on your tractor and post it . If you are unable to find a model number for the tractor, please answer the following :   With the machine in gear, what happens when you squeeze the clutch handle?  (Does the machine stop or go?)

That will give us a place to start.
