Auto locking/unlocking wheel on top ariens Deluxe models(sorry if this is a repost). Original Message Dec 15, 2005 11:54 pm
Hi, my ariens 926LE is a great blower, but could definatly stand to be more easily manuverable. The bigger deluxe model, though not equipped with a differential, has an autounlock/lock pin in one wheel. Is this something that could be ordered cheaply from a parts catolog and attatched to the existing axle? If so, does anyone have the part number and price, or pictures of the setup on there unit?

It would not be a simple or inexpensive switch. The axles and wheels would need to be replaced, as well as a host of parts to be added. It is not currently available, but a volume of calls to Ariens could change that.

It isn't really an automatic unlock, its more of a remote release/engage mechanism. There's a lever on the left handle that acts as a latch. If the wheels are locked one compression of the leaver releases the lock and the machine is more maneuverable. When you compress the lever a second time the wheels are locked again. I've tried it at HD and it makes a big difference in maneuverability.
