I am starting a new discussin to say a BIG thanks to everyone on this discussion board who have encouraged me when I could not get my new Ariens 926 to start after I brought it home from a super dealer in Buffalo.
My neighbor, Greg, who I should have called earlier, came by my house today.
We got to run as he is more persistent and determined. Also, knows more about engines.
Looking back, the reasons I could not get it to start may be two. I was too timid in priming not enoght times, and by not allowing the electric starter to run longer than the three to five seconds. Thinking I would damage the starter. Secondly, I should have started it when I brought it home rather than wait three weeks for the first decent Cleveland snow.
I also should have had more faith in Tecumseh; still, it took some doing to get it going, which did surprise me. This is my first Tecumseh in a very long time, but everyone tells me they make a good winter enging.
After we got it running good, we ran it for about 15 minutes, but not on full power. Before I shut it off, I ran it around the driveway to see how well it would clear the far edges where I had not driven my truck or shoveled. Yet, looking at the little orange tank, one knows this machine WILL blow snow. Then, I took Greg to lunch.
When we got back, with three pumps on the primer button, she started by using the rope pull cord. I was so happy, I called my son and the good dealer, John, with the good news.
Again, a big thanks to all your helpful folks of our group.
