installing Shear pins

I need to replace the shear pins on my snowblower. The previous owner used hardened bolts

. I ordered a few replacements when I placed an order with Jacks Small Engine.

My question is this... The shear pin consisits of a bolt ,nut and a little coller. how do you correctly install this type of pin?

The collar goes on the bolt first,then the bolt goes thru the shaft,then the nut.

Yup!

Mainly, it's a spacer to cover different sizes of shafts. The shear bolts are not always threaded completely.

that makes sense. With out the spacer you wouldnt be able to tighten down the nut on a very narrow shaft.
