got the FS55RC model...............

this thing runs alot stronger than my bigger cc Ryobi..........................

does the straight shaft transfer more power to the head than my Ryobi's curved shaft ? .......................

Congrat's Bill, you're the third Stihl Trimmer buyer here in the last few weeks. It must be catching. 

Skyking, I just bought the same model and found the same as you regarding performance. My Ryobi had more cc but didn't have as much power. It was a straight shaft like the Stihl. Jonathan

Stihl trimmer engines are designed very well. The engines have horse power equivelent to a 4-cycle engine but with more RPM. For instance, my trimmer is the equivelent of a 2HP 4cycle engine. But I have more RPM than a 4-cycle engine lol.

That Stihl trimmer will last you a long time with a little TLC guranteed...

I like those Easy 2 Start trimmers.  I haven't priced the Echo's vs. the Stihl price yet.  I'd probably want one that could accept attachments and be a brushcutter too.  Does anyone know of the price differences between the two?

Ajace, the cheapest Stihl trimmer is like 150 to 160. The most expensive trimmer is 400 to 450. If you want the ability to change heads and have it as a brush cutter than mabie the FS55 will suit you? You can get the FS55 for $200 I believe.

I'd probably need a Multi-task one.  I'd guess Stihl's are more heavy duty than Echo's line of the Pro-attachment series.  Buying time is a long time off as I see it.

I purchased the Stihl trimmer last year and could not be happier.  THey work great and do have a ton of power.  THe Echo motor may be a bit smoother than the Stihl, either way you would have a  quality product ath will serve you well.  Congrats!!
