$50 Sears YT-16 Original Message May 15, 2005 7:48 pm
For $50 & another $50 in parts (starter drive & idler pulley) & I now have this...
I really wish I took a pic of this beforehand - it really looked like it was ready for the scrapyard - I kid you not, a real "POS"!!! It has a 44" cut, 5 speed, 16hp Twin Briggs (NOT an OHV)....
Lint, Nice to see local entrepreneurship, makes you think there is hope after all. Scrap brings a good price now a days. The Chinese are buying up everyting they can get, and selling it back to mostly us, value added. We let them do it using this crazy exchange rate based on the chicoms manipulating their currency. Did I mention the GM plant in Baltimore closed after almost 70 years on Friday.

Joe - the seat is not original, it looks as if the previous owner just replaced it. Yeah, this thing sat outdoors for a while...
AJ - All I painted was the deck. I have some of that silver/gray Craftsman paint left, I didn't want to use it up on this project since it cleaned up nicely.
Marshall - The tractor is either a 1989 or 1990 model year
Rob - The Kubota is going bye bye. I didn't order a high lift blade set for it (DUH!) so it doesn't bag damp grass too well. My JD160 cuts MUCH better, can bag grass after it rains for 3 straight days - it is still my main machine until something significantly better comes across my path (which is going to be tough - the 160 is a GREAT machine). The STX went for $1200 just last Saturday & I will miss it... . The Sears YT16 has a 6 speed trans (5 fwd & 1 rev).
'Lint - I'm on the way up with the pickup & 18' trailer to "cash in" on some of that Mother Lode!
