Other types of air cleaners

Germicidal UV lamp — This lamp is able to kill germs, viruses, bacteria and fungi (mold) that pass the bulb. This lamp has no affect on particles in the air, however.

Ozone generator — Ozone is produced to destroy certain bacteria and chemicals, including odor-causing ones. It can get rid of many odors including cigarette smoke. These generators have no effect on airborne particles and can give off an odor of its own — that of ozone. This ozone can also cause irritation of the eyes, nose and throat if there is too high a quantity in the air. Thus, a cleaner like this is more effective if it can be turned off from time to time.
