Re: Older Sears snowblower 5Hp model 536.886531 -> gas primer problem

When you push the primer bulb only air is supposed to come of of the tube that connects to it. I'm pretty sure that if there's gas in there you have a problem... Since you have fresh gas, and a new spark plug, your carb is probably clogged up. Why?? I'm not sure since you say you drain the gas out at the end of each season. Do you use Stabil, or any other gas addative? Also, try shooting some Seafoam into the carb throat. In the bolt on the bottom of the bowl thare are little tiny holes. Try cleaning them out with compressed air, carb cleaner, or maybe even a wire.

Hope this helps,
Adam

I'm no expert, but I would assume so as Lawnboys are pretty much green Toro's. And the R*Tek is made by Briggs & Stratton to...

Well, if your Carb is like I'm thinking, you might have a stuck float. If I am interpretting what you're saying correctly, then it's a pinsized hole on the side of the carb. I had this problem when I got a old Snapper with a Tecumseh 4 stroke. I took off the bowl and freed up the float and it stopped spitting out the gas!

I don't know how well this would work, but what about attaching the clamps the use to hold poup camper roofs closed. They would be VERY easy to hook and unhook, and I think they would be able to hold it together fairly well.

I just ogt in from blowing my and my neighbors sidewalk and driveway. Still COLD!!!!   I had to use the little Toro CCR1000 E.  It started right up, after putting some fresh gas, with stabil in it yesterday night.  The Toro Was "a little" underpowered for what we got here.  10 inches of Thick, heavy, wet packed snow!!!   Great for building a Snowman, horrible for snowblowing.  Surprisingly the little Toro only clogged up a few times, and it was just where the barrel meets the chute, which was easily unclogged by turning the chute. The first pass took forever, and a lot of back and forth, back and forth motion, and the occasional tipping up when the little pile in front of it got to big, but once I got the first pass done, the rest was easy.  As long as I took it in 1/4 passes it moved the snow (about 3 feet), even after a greased chute and auger housing.  But the guy across the streat and the guy down the block, both had the smaller ariens 2 stages were only throwing about 6 feet so I knew I wasn't doing bad.

So, Anywho, I  was hoping to test out the Snapper 422 on a storm like this, but alas, I'm still waiting for a carb rebuild kit to come in to the snowthrower shop.  Going to call today (hopefully they will have it), and then maybe Ill get to use it afterall!!
