Gilson(Monty Ward) 5 HP 24" Augers dont Spin

Checked the Shear pins and they are fine...Engine is strong starts on first pull. augers spin... but if I stick a broom in there.. the augers stop..I can also move the augers in reverse by hand,,, Is the prob in the gearbox to which the axel attaches and spins it?? .. The drive shaft is spinning It seems that the prob may be in the gearbox,,, have never run this unit before... Any ideas?? Thanks very much
