Installing Central Vac Systems

If you are planning new home construction, look into having a system installed. It is much easier to install one before the walls go up and the floors go in. The power unit can be placed in some out of the way place like your cellar, garage, or even your attic. Then the tubing is run throughout the house with the valves placed in each room. In fact there should be a valve outlet for every 800 square feet or even less. The hoses run about 30 feet so you need to be able to reach all corners of the room from an outlet….some rooms then might require additional outlets to allow you to clean it thoroughly. Keep in mind that the central vac system can clean your upholstered furniture and your curtains, so you will want to have enough room to reach them.

If you are installing a system in your already built home, know that hoses for dirt intake will have to be threaded through your walls and then to wherever you have placed the base unit. Unless you are handy this may be too much work for a homeowner to do on his/her own. A contractor may be called in to accomplish the laying of hose etc. If you have more than one floor in your home, the installation becomes more complicated.
