Title: Electrolux Oxygen.Any good? Post by mark40511 on 03/28/07 at 12:44pm Hello.... I have a Rainbow and I'm not giving it up. But I vacuum almost every day. I had a kenmore can and they are sooo cheap!!! It was great if it would last. Even when taken care of, the quick release where the wand detatches from the powerhead broke. This part could be made better. I'm so sick of cheap crap. Is the electrolux Oxygen anygood? I know it has a washable filter but is it durable? Should I get a refurbished high end vac? Are Orecks anygood? I know they are durable. Oh, and Dyson, can the dirt container be washed/ submerged in water for cleaning like the Rainbow basin? |

(I'm big on bag size.) The better model, the 7020A is basically the same machine except it uses a full-size power nozzle nad is reported to clean well. My model cleaned well but was returned due to the breakage of a tiny wheel attached to its mini-style powered rug tool. The power switch on hte hose handle may take a little getting used. As for Kenmore, my old stand-by, I've had a few and never had a problem. In any event . . . There's nothing wrong in considering a used vacuum in good conditon or one that's re-built. Dollar for dollar you may find a lot more value if the machine is in good shape, properly equipped and nicely priced. I have a used Miracle Mate, a tad on the heavy side, that cleans well and can take a little knocking about. (Please note that bags and filters for this brand can be expensive.) I also have an Air-Storm, a machine of the same ilk, that matches the formers ability. Both proved to be pretty good machines but would be in my thinking not worth considering if I'd had to buy either at the usual asking price when new. Rebuilt all-metal Electroluxes are also worthwhile buys. Kirby's G5 model or above can be a good investment when bought used and in good shape but its sturdiness, also comes with increased weight. I don't know what your budget or actual style preference is but would say look around for a good all-metal rebuilt at as nice a price as possible. Check out your local vac specialists. If you consider buying online through eBay or other like concerns -- ask questions before you buy. Whatever you think you might like to have, do remember that the best vacuum is the one you like enough to use regularly. Hope that helps, Venson Venson |

Oreck uprights, IMHO, do best as daily users for quick and fast clean ups on floors and rugs. Estate sales/auctions usually have them for sale between $25-$50. Oreck has over 600 Clean Home stores nationwide (which ironically service 8 other name brands for every 2 Orecks). Carmine D. |
