I bought a Rug Doctor carpet shampooer at Kohl's on Tues.
It works very well!

Hi Rob,

I'm glad you're enjoying it.  Which did you get, the Mighty Pro or the Wide Track?  I personally don't know anyone who has one as all my neighbors are apartment dwellers too and you really need a good amount of free space to store one of these.

If you don't mind -- were you able to land yours at a nice price?

Regards,

Venson

I bought the Mighty Pro for $679.
I only use Rug Doctor chemicals in my machine.

Not bad!  I see on the Rug Doctor site ( http://www.rugdoctor.com/cart/products_mighty_pro.asp ) they want $729.25.  Good shopping.

Finally, Rug Doctor hits the mass market!  It's about time they did.  Does Kohl's also carry the Wide Track?

Kohl's does not carry the Wide Track.

The carpet and rug institute gives the rug doctor their seal of approval.  They were rather impressed with the unit when I spoke with them.

I to am looking for a small portable extractor as well.  Key word being "small and portable".  I've grown use to extractors with two, two stage vac motors producing 150" of lift and around 10-12 gallons in capacity.  (like driving a small golf cart around your living room)  I've only ran across a couple of models with these specs.  Mytee had a five gallon one, steambrite's in house products have recently listed one as well.  I swear this newly listed unit is the same one that cleanfix makes.  Both 5 gallon in capacity and rather compact.  Most 5 gallon units appear to come with a single three stage vac, producing anywhere from 115-135 of lift.  Only thing though, look forward to spending around a grand or more.

U can also rent Rug Doctor at supermarkets; I remember they had Rug Doctors for a while, then had other brand, then went back to Rug Doctor.  Rug Doctor is more reliable & better than most carpet cleaning machines thanx to its vibrating brush.
