Re: Lindhaus Aria Platinum Canister - Not for me..

Ok – To update the story…

I went on Saturday to pick up the Lindhaus Aria Platinum Electronic Canister Vacuum that the dealer ordered for me….

DID NOT LIKE IT!!!

Hose felt very thin and flimsy – as someone wrote previously, it does seem like the exact hose off of the Bosch Canisters… I also do not know how well it would hold up since it does not go into the canister in the top, but directly at the front… if you are trying to pull the canister it had a tendency to bend the hose at the canister fitting cutting off suction for a brief moment…

Did not like the power nozzle – made to much of a racket – depending on the carpet in the store I tried it on it would rattle and squeak –

The canister was fairly quiet – the power nozzle, no so…

I just did not think it was something I would like to use after a few weeks…

So – The dealer felt sorry for me that I drove so far (40 miles) and did not like it so he offered me a deal on a SEBO C3.1 canister –

Now remember – I had purchased one of these years ago when Tom Gasko first told us about them on the VacWeb Forum. 2 months after I purchased it, I had sold it on E-Bay since at the time there were engineering quirks that I did not care for at the time.

The holes handle would make a “click” noise where it connected at the top of the wand – it made this noise with every push and pull of the power nozzle –
The original ET-H power nozzle made a horrible racket – also sounded like the Lindhaus nozzle with the sound of loose marbles in it.
The canister would make a strange “buzz” noise when you plugged it in and turned on the master power switch.
The telescoping wand had too much play in it at the joint where the sections met..

So – he asked me to try out the “improved” version of the Sebo C3.1 which resolved most of the issue I had told him about. The best thing about the “new” Sebo Vacuum is the totally new power nozzles that replaced the now discontinued ET-H / ET-C.
The new nozzles are now called the ET-1 & ET-2 with the difference between the 2 being in the width of the nozzle.

The following comments will be about the C3.1 + the ET-2 wide power nozzle which is the one I purchased.

The new nozzle has a push button on/off switch on the top of the housing to enable you to do a quick pickup on bare floors by stopping the brush. The new nozzle is very, very quiet – no squeaks, clunks, rattles, or any other “odd” noises that plagued the old nozzle.

No more “buzz” when you turn on the master power switch on the canister –
No more click in the Handle to Wand Connection –
There is no “free-play” in the new style wand assembly where the sections meet –
They also did away with the Wessel Werk Style bare floor tool and now give you a wonderful “parquet” floor tool with 4 wheels, pivot and swivel neck, and two full rows of thick brushes.

So – I got the White C3.1 Canister, The extra wide ET-2 power nozzle, all the standard tools and accessories that come with it, a box of 10 genuine Sebo Bags, and then the C3.1 service kit with 10 more bags, the red pre-filter, and the green post-filter –

$600.00 out the door including NJ sales tax –

I gave it a workout this weekend, and was very pleased with all the improvements, and while it is getting old in styling, performance is top notch…

Now I have one question for the experts – What size is the hose handle/tool fitting on this vacuum? I know it is not 1-1/4” – is it 35mm? is it 1-1/2” or is it a Sebo only diameter on the hose handle – If it is a Sebo Only diameter, does Sebo make an adapter to allow it to accept the 35mm or 1-1/4 inch tools as I have a few I would like to use with it – The one I really will miss the most is my long Narrow Wessel Werk Black dusting brush…

Let me know –
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

The nozzle is not necessarily new but different and comparable to the Lindhaus power nozzle.  It was the same better quality power nozzle put out for use with Miracle Mate -- prior the change to the Lindhaus nozzle -- and it is still sold as an attachment with a few other brands.  As I recall it has also always sold as an add-on under the Sebo name but was most surprisingly never teamed with the "air belt" canisters till now.

By the way, how well does the air belt work at protecting furniture, etc., from marring?

Thanks,

Venson

Venson,

According to the dealer this 15" ET-2 Power Nozzle was a brand new nozzle that just recently came out -

I am familiar with the square nozzle with the row of LED'S that used to be on the Miracle Mate, but these new nozzles are Electrolux "L" shaped power nozzles...

Here is a link to a picture of the new nozzle - it is the one on the right of the very bottom of the page... Let me know if this is the nozzle you were talking about...

In regards to the air-belt... It does protect the walls and furniture since the belt is foam with vent holes under the grey cloth cover - It is also great because the exhaust is so gentle you can't really feel it coming out and it does not stir up any dirt on bare floors...

Thanks,
Dan

From the specs on the ET-1 and 2 power head nozzles:

"The electric power nozzle (either the ET-1 or ET-2)  is virtually indestructible and is designed to clean higher pile, or more plush carpets and rugs, or for use where pet hair is a concern."

My commentary:  Appears it is designed for USA rugs and carpets and the over 65 MILLION pets in the USA (according to the specs).  It has dual edge cleaning, variable height adjustment, manual brush control and swiveling neck.

FYI:

"* SEBO Extends Streak to EIGHT CONSECUTIVE YEARS!  Germany's vacuum dealers once again select SEBO as their No.1 Vacuum manufacturer.  In the just released issued of "Markt Intern," the trade magazine for Germany's electric appliance dealers, the results of their annual dealer survey were announced: For the 8th Consecutive Year, SEBO was voted the Number One vacuum cleaner manufacturer in the country! Most satisfying was the top ranking received in the "Loyalty to Specialists" and "Product Quality" categories. "

My experiences with Earlier Sebo C3.1s  (I tried several extensively before picking the Blue Moon 3 years back) were the same as D.E.P; "clicks" in the wand/handle joints, power-on "thrumbs" and other quirks.  Sounds like Sebo has updated it - probably one reason Sebo keeps getting awards per Carmin's previous quote-post.

The newer ET-1 and ET-2 powerheads are a vast improvement over the ET-C and ET-H Sebo used to offer with the C series.  The ET-1's also used on the Felix.  Mine runs very quietly and does a decent job grooming my medium pile polyester carpet.

Sorry to hear the Aria did not work out.  I have yet to see one, but am wondering if bad customer feedback is causing delays or redesigns?  As for its fixed-mount hose, every cannister I've used without some kind of a tank swivel has kinked and twisted itself  (the Bosch Platinum, which uses a thin-walled flimsy hose that appears similar to the Arias', has the same problem).

Fyi,  Miele has eliminated tank swivels on the newer S4 and S5 series.  I don't know how these models manuever compared to the older models.

Hi, your experience with the lindhaus and sebo canister power teams are the reason why these 2 companies are better known for their high end uprights.

They are trying to get into the high end can market, which is owned by aerus/electrolux,and miele[the german electrolux].

Hi Dan,

You're right.  I read your prior post and went to the Sebo site -- http://www.sebo-vacuums.com/ -- plus another but found an image of the power nozzle I spoke of not the new one.

Regards,

Venson
