Title: Not in the mood . . . Post by guess_who on 05/23/07 at 3:50pm Hi gang, We've just been doing a major clean-up at my office and due to the removal of a lot of stuff that was stored in boxes in our corridor and other places we've got areas of very low, very tight looped weave carpet that looks brand spanking new -- because they've never been walked on. I got about a hundred ideas of how to get the clean spots dirty enough to match up with the already dirty areas but that would really be too easy. Thus I am pursuing the high road and going for clean all over . . . however . . . We're not talking filthy dirty in this instance but obviously ithere's a need of a good cleaning. And guess who's going to do it if it gets done. Do those of you who've used Capture think this would be the product of choice. (Note -- we may only have this site another year-and-a-half.) Also, is there a painless INEXPENSIVE way to apply Capture and still do a thorough job well? The other alternative is to use the Hoover Floor-a-Matic we have to apply shampoo. I need names of tried and true brands that when properly mixed do not present a residue problem. Thanks, Venson |
Title: Re: Not in the mood . . . Post by HARDSELL on 05/23/07 at 6:27pm Oreck. in the past had a product similar to Capture. You could rent a machine to brush the capture in the carpet. I do not know if they still offer the product or machine. Also do not know how it performed. |
Title: Re: Not in the mood . . . Post by vacuuman on 05/24/07 at 1:21am The Oreck product is Capture, it just have a different lable on the bucket. I use the Oreck branded bucket because it is more available to me (not sure where to get capture around here). But I have used Capture, and it looks and smells just like the Oreck stuff, it even comes with the same "spreader" thing. |
Title: Re: Not in the mood . . . Post by Carmine_Difazio on 05/24/07 at 2:13pm Hello Venson: You may want to spend the $150-$170 on a HOOVER SteamVac Agility. Lighter and more "agile" to use than the full sized HOOVER Steam Vac cleaners, the Agility uses spin-scrub brushes (5) just like the full size version with heated carpet cleaning, a Clean Surge feature for heavy duty traffic areas (vice routine cleaning) and dual tanks (clean/dirty) and a power hand tool for steps and upholstery. Good product and inexpensive. Very easy to use. The HOOVER Floor-a-matic is good for very small areas. It's water/rug shampoo tank is smallish. And the Floor-a-matic does not allow you to vacuum the rug clean after shampooing to clean/remove the rug dirt/shampoo. It does not provide the heat clean rug feature either like the Agility. Title: Re: Not in the mood . . . Post by eteinne on 05/24/07 at 6:32pm What U R looking for is called either a Dri-Lux or a Dri-Star. I have 3 of them and bought them on Ebay. They look like a Lux PN with a more dense brush roll, much like the Kirby Rug Fluffer, Nap Lifter, or what ever they R called. Before I purchased these I used my Lux B-8 or whatever the Kirby thing is called. I did also use my central vac and didn't insert the hose into the outlet as I don't have direct connect valves and use the pig-tail jump cord. With no suction it would just keep working the Capture into the carpet. Do use the traffic spray to keep it moist. I buy my Capture/Oreck form a place in MI. It is a brother and sister co. and they R just great! This does have the Oreck name but it is a lot cheaper than what you would be able to buy at the Oreck store. U would have to set up an account as they sell all of this stuff wholesale to the vac shops. I have a cleaning service so that is how I was able to buy. U have to think of something as they don't sell to the general public. A few years back the Dri-Lux was sold on QVC with one of their canister vacs. I just went on Ebay and bought them. They R on there all of the time and U can get them for a good price as no one seems to know what they R. Good Luck! |
