Classic Metal Durability

If you are interested in going back to a time when things were built to last, then this vacuum will take you there. This "all metal" Royal is still made with the quality they used when they started making vacuum cleaners. The aluminum on this upright is very durable, yet the vacuum cleaner has the weight of an average upright. The vacuum is very easy to push/pull across the carpeting on its four big wheels.

The Royal has a unique height adjustment system. A pedal is stepped on which lowers the brushroll to the proper height. An "Adjust-rite button, on the front, depresses when the vacuum is lowered to the proper setting. This insures proper carpet cleaning and maximum life of belt.

This vacuum uses a brushroll with plastic brush stiffeners beside the brushes to make stiffer bristles for maximum dirt removal. You can actually see sand dance in front of the vacuum, with the help of Royal's brilliant headlight.

The Royal "all metal" uprights accept 3 grades of vacuum cleaner bags-regular, microfresh(microlined), and HEPA type. I found the regular bags to work adequately, but filtration was minimal. The mircrofresh bags filtered better and allowed more dirt to be deposited into the bag before starting to clog. the HEPA type bags are the best, because the utilize a rubber seal around the collar to keep more dust from escaping. What may keep people from purchasing these bags is the very high price. So, the microfresh bags would be the better choice unless cost was no problem for the potential owner.

At one time, it was common to purchase the above-the-floor cleaning attachments for this vacuum cleaner, but they were very expensive. They were excellent quality though. The hose is more difficult to convert than a Kirby. What is happening is people who own this upright are using their old canister vacuum cleaner or purchasing a compact canister like a Eureka/Sanitaire Mighty Mite for other cleaning tasks.

If you want a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use, to clean your carpeting really well, then this is the vacuum for you. It will bring you years of service and become a classic like its name.
