What can I say about the Royal PowerCast RY9200… It is a GREAT Vacuum Cleaner… Looks very slick, very retro... Very, Very well made vacuum – made in Taiwan – castings are flawless, as are all of the other parts of the vacuum – no extra flashing on any of the components – assembly is top notch – quality in every component from cord to body castings - Quiet – Quiet – Quiet – Since this is the only one in the PowerCast line with the two stage motor, I can’t really compare to the RY9000 & RY9100 , but without the brush roll running, it is at least as quite as my Sebo C3 canister had been, and almost as quiet as my Miele Canister… Heavy – At least to Carry – In actual use the vacuum is not hard to maneuver at all – I guess this is partially due to the fact the vacuum has 4 very large wheels on it – But I think the weight also give a further impression of quality – The thing is built like a tank – Tools – Top notch tools – They use the same set of metal/vinyl tools that used to be on the Royal metal tank series I had – metal tool attachment points, metal wands, and metal hose handle all add to the quality feel of the unit. Great Carry Bag – These should be standard with every vacuum… Height adjustment is opposite the norm as someone else pointed out, but I got used to it by the end of the first cleaning – The lighted brush roll switch is great – With the Brush off, the unit did a great job in the hall, bathroom, and kitchen, which are the only spaces without carpet. I used it this weekend to do a complete monthly cleaning – Suction is outstanding - hose suction is outstanding - when you stand the vacuum upright and tip it back without releasing the handle, it tries to pick the rug up off the floor - when I cleaned, I did a full cleaning, which means moving all the furniture, etc… I placed the vacuum in the middle of the room with the hose attached, and used every attachment to it’s fullest – One advantage to the weight of the unit is that unlike lighter vacuums like my Dyson, you are able to use the very, very long hose without the vacuum following you around – Although I did not measure it out, the hose has to be at least 15 feet long when extended to its full length – Even running the vacuum, and then placing your hand over the end of the hose does not cause the vacuum to pull towards you… After cleaning all the rooms, I then went over the whole house to Vacuum the Carpets after removing the hose from the unit. Royal-Aire Micro Filtration bags seem to do their job well – I laid down two cups of Zorb – Let it dry for two hour, then vacuumed it up – Almost zero leakage through the bag and the dark gray dust compartment was very clean – All in all, I think it is a great vacuum and was a terrific price - $199.00 – no Shipping, no Tax, authorized Royal Dealer as confirmed by Royal Themselves – Could not ask for a better bargain – Would I have paid the $1099.00 list price for it? I doubt it, but I would have paid between $300-500 for it and would have thought it to be worth every penny – At $199.00 – I think I got the Deal of the year… One Last Question – What are the best bags out there now – Is it the “Royal-Aire Micro Filtration”, the “Dirt Devil Micro Fresh”, or one of the after market brands – I am not so much worried about allergies, as I am keeping the dust out of the vacuum motor – Since I service it myself every year and blow the motor clean this is not a huge issue, but I just thought I would ask..
