Is It a Miele?

Simplicity and Riccar have recently introduced this high class power team to the American market. The Riccar is called the 1700P. If you took a quick look, you would swear it could be a Miele. It has a lot of the same, if not better, features of the Miele at a cheaper price.
When you first pick the vacuum up, you realize that it is not that heavy. The wand hooks onto the canister, so you can lift the whole cleaner with one hand. Not only does the vacuum have power switch and cord rewind switch on the machine, but it also has controls and function indicators on the hose handle. The machine can be turned on/off, power nozzle turned on/off, speed control, bag check, etc. While this looks like a fantastic feature, I am concerned if the hose is dropped one too many times. To repair the hose can be very expensive. At this point, the vacuum is too new to know for sure. The hose is a nice, long 7ft. long. This makes vacuuming a lot easier, since you are going to pull the vacuum around less. The machine end of the hose has about four metal prongs sticking out that connect the power functions when connected to the vacuum cleaner. I would strongly suggest that owners not disconnect the hose and store, because these prongs might possibly become bent. The electrical part would be better protected while connected to the Infinity.
The vacuum cleaner is very quiet when turned on. The power nozzle is alittle bit louder than the main unit, but not by much. Vacuuming the carpeting is very easy with this vacuum. It has a curved hose end handle, which is easy to grab and hold onto. It was very comfortable.
The power nozzle had a very good brushroll with stiff bristles to get at the heavier debris. It would be nice if the power nozzle used a metal brushroll with replaceable brushstrips. You will like the nozzle if you know the proper height for cleaning different carpeting, because it has a manual height adjustment. Just step on the pedal and the nozzle will lift. The vacuum also has a ìquick releasingî wand from the power nozzle. This is great when you have a corner where the power nozzle will not reach. Just step on a pedal and the wand will release from the nozzle. Return the wand to the nozzle when you are finished and resume your carpet cleaning. The wand is a stainless steel direct connect wand that is telescopic. It is very easy to shorten/lengthen the wand. I think it is the easiest that I have seen so far in a wand. There are no exposed wires on the wand.
The S36 came with quite a few attachments. I like the fact that some are stored in the vacuum cleaner and not on the wand. The attachments use natural hair bristles. There is also a larger wall/floor brush that does not store on the vacuum. It has the natural bristles and also has rubber wheels on each side. If you turn the brush over, it looks identical to a Miele brush. It also comes with a rug/floor attachment.
The filtration is very good. This vacuum is a 100% sealed vacuum cleaner. It uses a clothlike fiber dust bag from the 3M filtrete technology. It has a premotor filter and a final S class HEPA exhaust filter. It also utilizes charcoal filtration for odor elimination.
Simplicity gives owners a very good warranty on the Infinity S36. It has a regular 3 yr. warranty and a total of 5yrs. on the motor.
I believe the Infinity S36 is going to be a big competitor for Miele. The vacuum has a lot of power to clean from top to bottom and keep the dirt in the vacuum and not in the air.
