My Craftsman CMXEVBE17590 9 gal wet/dry vac blows debris around instead of vacing (hose is connected on intake on drum) Is there something wrong with the vac? Should aI return it to Ace Hardware?

There are two openings on the red plastic dust container and a blower port on the back of the motor. Of the two openings on the lower half the bottom is a drain for water and above it is the suction inlet for the hose. A bag attaches right behind the hose, On the back of the motor which sits on top of the red dust bin there is a blower port. Make sure your hose is on the suction inlet and not the blower port.
