Vacuum Cleaners Discussions

Having relocated to the big house with the big central VacuFlo vacuum, I'm curious if there is anything we should be careful of with this model?
I do not know exact model, but it is a cyclonic version, about 5 years old, with a large white-transparant tub at its base held on by two clasps. 
Inside the cyclone chamber is what seems to be an inverted cone with a screen, surrounded by a plastic shroud.

The vac, which services a 3500 square foot house, has to deal with 4 cats worth of fur, cat litter and the usual house-old dirt.

When I cleaned the vac recently I discovered a fair bit of cat hair on the cyclone screen, but it was easy to brush off and then catch in the bin.

So far it fires right up, and seems to have air flow higher than but suction not quite as great as my old Miele Blue Moon.
