My feeling is that if the the engine said Polar Force by Shanghai Engines then I would be concerned.  The fact that Briggs puts their name on the engine tells me that there is quality control being done by Briggs at the point of manufacturing.  I doubt they would want to attach their name to a junk engine.  As for the Polar Force name it means nothing,  Briggs has nothing to do with that.  Polar Force is the name Ariens attaches to the engine for marketing purposes.    So don't get confused and think that all Polar Force engines are made in China.   In fact I do believe that the only snowblower engines from Briggs are AREN'T made in China are the 305 and 342.  If that is wrong I am sure Snowman will set it straight.

I have a neighbor like that.  Some fancy hot shot executive.  6 foot 2 that moves a little single stage snowblower or a shovel like he was about to slip a disc on his spine.  I don't think he has a medical condition, I see him throwing the foot ball around in the summer.

Last year, we had a blizzard early February.  Wife was outside snowblowing against the wind at 10 PM.  I don't know why, the wind just puts back what she went over.

Next day, there was 20" of snow on the driveway, 25" at the EOD.  Wife was outside shoveling, the snow was too much for the little snowblower.  Where was Dad and the 15 year old son?  Inside.  They didn't come outside until my neighbor and I was 3/4 done clearing their driveway and sidewalk.

Embarrassing

Interest or not your son is old enough to help out.  If he is not interested in the blower then make him shovel.  I guarantee his interest will peak pretty quick.  I have a neighbor that asks me to mow his yard when he can't because his 16 year old son doesn't "want" too.  No excuse for laziness.  My Dad would have kicked my butt if I left everything for him to do when he got home from work or even worse let my Mom do it. lol

Though I like the looks of the wider tires I think these will get better traction.  We will see.

Nice machine but, why so much engine?  That's 115cc larger than the 305cc engine on my Simplicity and it has plenty of power.  Just wondering where the "over-kill" threshold is?

I already have my sights on my next blower once I get moved into the new place!
