Last summer I finally got around to installing the dual auger belt modification to my Ariens 11.5hp blower. Wow, what a difference in performance over the factory single belt. Yes it was a pain getting off the old pulleys that were frozen on but it was worth it. Speaking of "frozen". I took a break from Storm Jonas and went inside for dinner...when I went back out the chute deflector cable was frozen. Had to bring it in my heated garage to let it thaw out before I could use it again. Anyone have a solution for keeping control cables from freezing. Could you describe the difference that the dual belt kit makes? O

I have a eight-year-old 926 DLE and have never burned a belt. 20 hours does seem pretty short to me. I would suspect a pully or tensioner out of alignment. There are also two holes on that tensioner if I recall for adjustment.

On my 2005 926DLE I did add a washer in the gears area under the black cover atop the chute. Can't remember exactly where but I bet if you look in there you may find some slop than can be tightened up with another washer. That "hole" chute system is a crap design but with some persistance and very fine adjustments of the chute cables under the dash you can get her to be adequate. I would rather have the crank type controll. I remember that chute going bonkers before I fine tuned the pos. O |
