Got tired of trying to figure it out and did not want to try drilling out what appeared to be hardened steel.
And I have limited time this week before the weekend and another potential storm.

A previous owner apparently had put on side shoes, so the holes were there and no welded nuts.
So, I bought the commercial side ride shoes and will go with that.

Play with the blade spacing a little but since the driveway is not smooth and I should be good to go for the next storm.
I did a quick pass and it makes the auger head seem like it is flexing a lot less, which should give me more consistent blade height over the unevenness.

Hi all,

Using rear shoes on the auger housing one of the rear studs broke off.

These are not pass through bolts and look like they are a place with two welded studs on the plate.

Will the plate and studs knock out?

If so, I can replace them with just regular bolts/washer/nuts
Or, is there a source for those dual stud plates. Dealership says he thinks they were considered part of the housing and there is no part #/

I've seen this hashed out a bit on different forums, but no recent 2007/2008 updates.  Based on experience and spec sheets, where do people sit in the Approx. 10HP range (9-11) in Pro models between the 3 makes.

I have a couple local dealers, both are adequate but neither stand out.
They are not that interested in delivering a test machine.
So, it is really down to the machines themselves on paper and based on internet recommendations.  

I'll make the trips and look at them and feel the controls, but I'm more interested in ease of use and long term viablity based on real world experience (yours).

I heard Simplicity is closing down a plant?
Does that bode ill for their long term parts and service?

My information:

150 ft Driveway, up hill.
We do get plowed, so I basically clear the EoD as needed.
Square up the boundries, and clear the mailbox (about 50 feet).
I also run a path around the house and do a 'loop' across the lawn to the compost area.

I live in Maine, so we get moderate to heavy snow falls and conditions from light fluff to rain drenched snow pack.

After doing some research it looks like there are not that many changes to the basic configuration through the late 70s, early 80s.
I think perhaps any manual from than period might give me a good idea of how things are set up.

Do you know where and what type of shear pins are used?
I am not very mechanical and have no reference point there.

Anyone know the model and/or year?
It does not have the model or serial on the frame.
