Well, this was a interesting mower and actually did run well till recently. I bought this mower in 1999. Have been impressed with it until a couple years ago.
To start with, the Scotts mower has a B&S 6.5HP Intec Engine on it. Runs really good, was easy to start. I like the fact that I can pick up clippings with it or without it. It has the ability to mulch via mulch plug. Or you could discharge the grass out the side. It is a rear 3-speed self propelled unit. It has a 1-handle bar blade adjustment for ease of adjusting. I did like that feature!
After so much of use, you have to remove the rear plate where the transmition is and remove the debree, same thing where the belt is aswell. I was ok with it, just part of standard maintenance. Is easy to maintane. Just don't leave old gas in it for too long and you will be fine. Used to start on first pull, now it takes quite a bit of priming and pulling.
Recently, it developed a self propell problem which I have yet to figure the problem out. And the engine is leaking oil at the OHV area. All in all, this is a good mower. Just don't expect it to last mower than 5 years.
