I have had this mower for several years. I have a yard that is 3/4 of an acre, lot's of shrubs and trees to go around.

This is my 3rd Husky. YOU WILL NOT find a better cutting mower anywhere and they last and do not rust. I give mine hell and occasionally bushhog with it using older blades.. It's unreal what this thing can go through for a simple little old lawn tractor.

The 15 HP Kawasaki is a perfect match for this mower. I think personally this is the best 42 in. lawn tractot Husky ever built. Period.

Pros:
Kawasaki Twin Cylinder Power, Smooth even cutting, Nearly zero turn, fast, dependable, easy to maintain.

Cons:
Slow in reverse

YTH1542XP - Excellent and inexpensive

I bought the Husky 15 h.p. tractor in 2002. It came with the hard plastic three compartment bagger, mulch and regular cut blades. This machine cuts three large yards with approx. half an acre of lawn on each. The yards also have a 10% grade on the front lawns so, it also does a fair amount of hill climbing. The twin cylinder Kawasaki engine has to be one of the nicest engines I've used. Starts well, runs quiet, is easy on fuel and easily maintained. Power is sufficient for my needs. Handling is excellent. Easy to turn and comfortable for long days in the saddle. In five years (over 300 hours) of heavy use this machine has been rock solid. I've replaced the mower belt and a couple of air and oil filters. That's it. Due to numerous grease fittings, this machine will probably last another five to ten years with normal maintenance.

Date Purchased: June 2002
Price Paid: $2200

Pros:
Solid build
excellent Kawasaki V twin engine
easy and comfortable handling
very easy on fuel

Cons:
Original dealer out of business and new dealer is the gouge king of the world...possibly the universe!

So far, so good

It took quite a while to get me complete setup in order from the dealer, but once I did this tractor has been very fun and practical.

I hadn't mowed all season when the tractor finally arrived in May, so my grass was quite high. The triple bagger I had included with my purchase came in handy as I was able to mow my entire yard (a little more than a 1/2 acre of grass with lots of trees and shrubs) in about two hours. This would have taken me all day with my push mower and I was able to run the tractor pretty fast through high grass without even the hint of stalling.

Another example of the tractor's power came when I was aerating. I was pulling a plugger model with two cinder blocks on the back and was able to scale the hill in our back yard (about 30 degrees) without any hesitation or laboring. The manual says to avoid anything over 15, but it can certainly handle more.

The turning radius is also wonderful. I was able to hit most spots in my lawn by circling around shrubs and tree mulch beds and only needed a string trimmer to get the places even my push cannot reach.

One thing I did not care for is the difficulty of adding front-mounted attachments. I bought a Craftsman front de-thatcher (which works great by the way) and it was quite a hassle to get is attached to the front in place of the bumper that comes standard with this model. Another annoying thing is the bagger tends to blow dust onto the deck, so it can be somewhat dirty. I'm hoping that once my grass comes in thicker this will not be as much of an issue since the de-thatcher left lots of bare spots exposed.

So overall my initial experiences have been very positive and I would definitely recommend this model.

Date Purchased: 05/2007
Price Paid: $2199
Recommend: Yes
Pros:
Excellent turning radius - a nice alternative to pricier "zero turn" models.
Cuts great, no stalling or scalping.
Very easy to control and ride, the foot throttle is a must.
Surprisingly powerful for only 15 HP.
Cuts in reverse with key in proper position.
Smooth, "quiet" ride.

Cons:
Front mounted accessories are tedious to attach.
The bagger can be quite dirty and blows dust everywhere in dry conditions.
Engine seems to run hot.

Husqvarna tractors

I just loved these tractors. Their predecesors were a good tractor, but the Kohlers tended to be oisy. The Kawasaki engine is a dream to hear. They have a heavier duty front end and body then what we have found in "box stores" around here. As soon as customers come in and see and hear these tractors they are impressed with the easy of starting, and the fact that they can still hear themselves think. The seats are comfy, there is a cup holder, bumper, and are step thru for easy of climbing on.

Date Purchased: dealer
Price Paid: $0
Recommend: Yes
Pros:
bumper
Kawasaki engine
4 gallon fuel tank
cup holder
pleasant to sit on for long periods of time
step thru design

Cons:
factory blades seem to bend easily
decks may cut crooked if not adjusted proper and you'll pull your hair out trying to figure out the cause

The mower gives a very good cut and is put together very well. The engine is quiet and it is a Kawasaki and 15 HP is plenty for this mower. Attaching the chute for the bagger is awkward and can be difficult at times. I wash the capacity of the bagger was better with mesh bags instead of the hard plastic ones (but that is minor) I think for the money you can't beat this mower and I looked long and hard before buying one. The JD's at Home Depot, in my opinion, don't even come close. My neighbor has one and I was not impressed. There were loose bolts and the frame felt weak when compared to the Husqvarna, thats what finally made me choose the Husqvarna.

I have had the mower for two seasons now without any problems. It still cuts great and I could not be happier.

Pros:
The quality of cut, quiet, great engine, and excellent price.

Cons:
Awkward bagging hook up.
