Right around the time I was needing to repower some of my snowblowers, B&S came out with the new Intek Snow engines. Of the 3 machines being repowered, 2 had older B&S engines and one had a Tecumseh engine. First one to go was the Tecumseh. It succumbed to the infamous "kaboom" through the side of the block. Excited about the new engines, and the bullit proof nature of the older B&S engines, I spent the money on the monster 13 hp engine. The dealer said the 11 would be fine, but what's that?! Out of the box it has been absolutely amazing! Much more powerful than the Tecumseh 13 and so much quieter too! I can't seem to find any faults with these new engines. The two new 11's have been every bit as great as the 13. These engines have been used commercially since day one and the oldest has over 2500 (2-4 car) driveways "under its belt". The next 11hp is not far behind. Think about that number for a moment. They still start and run like new, and I don't see an end yet. They have all had full synthetic oil since the first pull. And an easy pull at that. Really, I can't say enough good about these engines. Briggs and Stratton deserves a 10/10 for their offering into the snow market again. If you are in the market to repower a snowblower or purchase a new machine, make sure you get the Intek Snow engine. 2500+ times for me.......a life time for you!

Pros:
Powerful Quiet EASY to start Built to last
Cons:
In the re-power market, B&S should have made the mounting circle the same as Tecumseh. You MAY have to drill some new holes to make it fit. But, so what. What you are getting is so worth it! |
