Ariens Belts

Hello, Looking for spare Ariens belts for a 924071 (1986 ST1136), the parts radar app lists different ones 71,73,76... Does anyone have a proper lookup for these so I can get them sized and pick some up at the TSC? I don't want to measure the old ones because the machine was a little cobbled together so this might not be the appropriate size. Thanks, Craig

Ariens Part Changes

Hello,I'm working to fix up my old ST1163, 924071 SN 003233. I ordered axle bearings from a dealer (05417700), they don't fit the bearing retainers and the dealer says that they are the corect ones. The new ones are sealed on both sides (old ones were sealed on one side) and they allowed the bearing retainer plates to sit flush on the sides of the blower. The new ones hold the bearing retainer out from the blower. Does anyone know if you want to use the new bearings if you have to get updated bearing retainers or did I just get the wrong bearings. On the Ariens parts radar there is superseaded data that makes it looks this way but not for my blower, just for a slightly different model because the bearings for mine are not listed. Thanks, Craig

Re: chains on snowblowers

I just got an 11hp Ariens (1985) with chains on it. It gets great traction but I was thinking about changing the tires to Snow-Hogs because the chains hack up the driveway. Also, my tires are very cracked so it looks like I'll have to get new ones soon anyway. Craig,

Thanks for the pin info! I got it out last night, turns out I just needed a larger hammer and a new 3/16" drift. The way I started to hit it was so that I saw the splines comming out the other end so I did it right. BTW, I supported the hub assembly with a piece of maple that I cut to fit between the floor and the flat part of the hub. It came out very easily once I got all setup. After I got the bearings out it was apparent that they were toast, the one lost it's rubber seal and ate some grit. I also took out the differental, I wanted to soak all the old grease out of it and clean it up but it looks like it is geased then rivited together. I won't de-grease it it I can't re-grease it! Thanks again, Craig
